Construction work has started on a US$23 million revamp of Concourse A at Tulsa International Airport (TUL).

Operator the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust (TAIT) will develop the concourse, with the project being a mirror image of the recent renovation of Concourse B.

The first stage in the upgrade of the 40-year-old concourse has seen Delta Airlines and American move to temporary gates.

The next will see replacement of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that support the concourse, improving the operational efficiency of the facility and the comfort for airport guests.

Additional changes travellers should expect are expanded gate areas, new seating with integrated power outlets, new restrooms – including a family restroom, a business center, and a new military lounge.

The project is being funded by passenger facility charges, a $4.50 per ticket fee that is added to every departing ticket sold from TUL.

Development work at Concourse A will take approximately 18 months to complete and will eventually house the operations of Delta, American, and Allegiant airlines.
