FMG, the Munich Airport operating company, and Airports of Thailand (AoT) have reached agreement to co-operate more closely and enhance their partnership.

The Bavarian-Thai cooperation dates back to the preliminary stages of the successful launch of operations at Bangkok's Suvanabhumi Airport.

From December 2004 until September 2006, FMG's experts provided support in the preparations to commission the new airport and in the move to the new location within the framework of an ORAT project (operational readiness and airport transfer).

In December 2009, FMG and AoT signed a sister airport agreement for a regular exchange of information and cooperation in operational processes, marketing, training and innovation management.

AoT currently operates six international airports in Thailand: Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Chiang Rai and Suvarnabhumi.

The new master agreement, which provides for a long-term continuation of the partnership between the two airport operating companies, was signed by Sasisubha Sukontasap, the senior vice president for corporate strategy with AoT, and Dr. Michael Kerkloh, the president and CEO of FMG.

In the future, the two partners also plan to extend the scope of their joint activities to include consulting and infrastructure projects in the entire Asian market.
