Growth continues at Copenhagen Airport after 2.3 million passengers were handled in September – the 18th consecutive monthly record.

In the first nine months of 2014, almost 20 million passengers travelled through the largest airport in the Nordic region.

The figure of 2,339,515 marked the first time passenger numbers for September has reached 2.3 million, and the growth rate was 6.4% on the same month of last year.

Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S, explains: “If we look to our main competitors, the other European hub airports, we remain in a very comfortable position in terms of growth this year.

“Our stable traffic growth throughout the summer programme is part of the reason that we have been able to secure one of the highest growth rates in Europe.”

International traffic was up 6.7%, domestic traffic 3.4% and the “important” transfer traffic at the Danish gateway was up 14.5%.

Woldbye continues: “The major part of the intercontinental traffic out of our region still departs from Copenhagen, and thesolid transfer growth therefore strengthens our hub. This is reflected in a 17% rise in passenger numbers on our long-haul services.”

Year to date, just over 19.7 million passengers have travelled through Copenhagen Airport, which is 1,312,157, or 7.1% more passengers than the same period last year.
