Construction firm Ertech Holdings has been awarded a A$16.6m (US$12.8m) contract to complete the first phase of the forecourt redevelopment project at Perth Airport in Australia.

The project is part of a wider A$42m (US$32m) redevelopment program for the forecourt area at Terminal 1 (T1), and will involve the construction of a new 88ft entrance plaza and paved forecourt area. The project will also see the construction of a new bus station and improved pedestrian access, pick-up/drop-off areas and seating. Other features will include full wi-fi coverage, additional lighting, public art and landscaping. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2016.

Brad Geatches, CEO, Perth Airport, said, “Ertech is an established Western Australian company that brings a wealth of civil engineering and construction experience to this project. Over the past six years Perth Airport has spent approximately A$1bn (US$770m) on 92 different projects to improve its facilities. Further major development works are planned for the airport following the approval of its 20-year Master Plan, which includes a third runway, a rail link project and the construction of a new international pier.
