The gateway chose the CTX 9800 to enhance its screening capabilities at terminals 1,2,4 and 5 after a period of "competitive testing".
The move ensures compliance with Department for Transport regulations in the UK mandating Standard 3-approved EDS to screen all hold baggage by September 2018.
Under terms of the agreement, Morpho will provide logistical and service support and MUXT multiplexing software to enable central station and airport-wide networking capabilities.
After deployment, Heathrow will operate the largest fleet of CTX 9800 machines outside of the US.

Capable of screening more than 1,000 bags per hour (BPH), the high-speed CTX 9800 enhances operational efficiencies by screening bags faster and with fewer false alarms.
It has been approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) as meeting Standard 3 requirements and certified by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
