The total was 5.1% up on July 2014 and marked the first time in its 90 year history that the Danish airport has handled more than 2.7 million passengers in a single month.
It attribrutes the new high to the unsettled Danish summer, which it claims led to an increase in the number of Danes and Swedes living in the airport's catchment area in southern Sweden heading for warmer climates for their summer holidays.
"The figures show that both European and intercontinental routes attracted sun-starved Danes," said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airports.
In earlier years, the airport says it has experienced a few peak travel days, but nothing like this year's traffic surge, which was spread over several days.
Indeed it points out that it handled more than 90,000 daily on 20 days during the months of June and July compared to only six during the corresponding period a year ago.
The summer rush means that a total of 15 million passengers have used Copenhagen Airport in the year to date.
