Landing Gear Fire Forces Temporary Flight Suspension at Shannon Airport

All flights were temporarily suspended at Shannon Airport earlier this morning following an incident on the runway involving an Omni Air Internation Boeing 767-300 Aircraft.
The incident was believed to be a landing gear fire.

Emergency Services were in attendance and all passengers and crew disembarked as all airport operations were suspended.

Airport personnel worked to remove the aircraft from the scene of the incident so safe operations on the runway could be resumed

Following the incident Aer Lingus flights EI 380 & EI 381 Heathrow were cancelled followed by Flights EI 3638 & EI 3639 Birmingham and flights EI 3672 & EI 3675 Edinburgh.

Around 10.45am the aircraft was successfully removed from the runway and planning for the resumption of flights got underway.

The airport advises passengers to contact their airlines for flight updates whilst delays were expected throughout the day.
