Passenger Experience Week debuts new PAX Week Views podcast

PAX Week Views explores the future of the passenger experience industry and opens with special guests Blake Emery and PJ Wilcynski of Boeing Commercial Airplanes

27 February 2019: Passenger Experience Week 2019 has today announced the launch of its new PAX Week Views podcast – available to stream or download: http://bit.ly/2BopFfh – that will bring together a host of leading industry experts from across the aviation, rail and cruise sectors to share their thoughts on the future of the passenger experience industry.

The first episode of the new series features guest host Murdo Morrison of Flight Global and special guests Blake Emery and PJ Wilcynski of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Their fascinating discussion focuses on the future of cabin interiors and the 20th anniversary of Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), one of four events taking place during Passenger Experience Week 2019.

The discussion explores a range of topics from spaciousness in the cabin, inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) to accessibility onboard and LED lighting, which PJ Wilcynski described as one of the biggest trends impacting cabin design over the past 20 years. Speaking about the future of the passenger journey, Blake Emery, Director of Differentiation Strategy, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “It’s not a shared journey; It’s an individual journey. There will be technology and the means for passengers to more easily choose the flying adventure they want.”

Speaking about the event, Emery added: “We have plans of unveiling 777X mock-ups, which PJ and I are both really excited about.”

Building on the success of the 777 and 787 Dreamliner families, the 777X will be the largest and most efficient twin-engine jet in the world. The cabin interior, which will be on display at AIX 2019, is inspired by the comforts and conveniences of the 787 Dreamliner, with larger windows, a wider cabin, new lighting and enhanced architecture – all of which will be custom-tailored for a unique inflight passenger experience.

Exploring the intricacies of the passenger experience within the air, rail and cruise industries, PAX Week Views will return later this month to feature more engaging discussions and debates on the hottest topics and trends relating to cabin interiors, inflight entertainment and connectivity, passenger comfort, catering, retail offerings and software technology. Coming up in future episodes, Ariane Van Mancius of Now|New|Next and John Tighe of JPA Design will explore current trends onboard and the importance of inflight comfort and wellbeing, with even more special guests and exciting show updates set to be announced.

Passenger Experience Week 2019 returns to Hamburg from 1-4 April consisting of four leading events – Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE), Passenger Technology Solutions (PTS) and the Passenger Experience Conference (PEC). The four leading events in one location – the Hamburg Messe – share one goal: to shine a light on the latest innovations and services available to enhance the travel experience and improve the onboard comfort and wellbeing of passengers.
