Wilmington International Airport Receives $20 Million in Federal Grants
Wilmington International Airport announced last month that the airport has received $20 million in federal grants. The funds will support ILM’s capital improvements including the realignment of Airport Boulevard, a new terminal curb front, design of a terminal expansion to add new gates, as well as improvements for general aviation.
The grants were funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The funds support the following projects:
- Roadway realignment & new terminal curb front: $18.1 million
- Terminal design: $900,000
- General Aviation Improvements: $1 million
“These federal grants are a significant piece in filling out ILM’s 5-year capital plan, as laid out in the airport’s vision plan,” stated Jeff Bourk, ILM Airport Director. “The grants ensure we have the funding to move forward with the roadway realignment and terminal curb project, planned to be complete by fall 2026.”
